6l80 wave plate removed tuning
I have a 2014 Silverado 6l80 with the wave plate removed. I?ve had it tuned a few times now and I?m still getting the 3-5 bump. I used circle d?s rebuild kit and sonnax parts and it seems there?s not a ton of information on tuning for it. Circle d says it doesn?t need tuning, sonnax says it absolutely needs tuning. I followed instructions to exact points on the build and seen nothing on why not to remove it so now I have another tuner lined up this week but he seem like he?s not to excited that it?s built the way it is. I guess my question is do I need to remove the trans again and install the wave or will I be okay if I get the correct tune? I?m just looking to reliably pull my camper and daily drive.

If you can, post your tune and a log of the 3-5 bump happening. Will be easier to see whats going on.

I really havent found a way to rid the bind without turning adapts off for the 2-3 shift and dialing in clutch volume maually. Problem with that is that it wont adjust for wear, etc. People say they have done different things, but ive yet to have that work for me first hand, and especially over time.

So best bet is to pull it and install the wave plate?

From my standpoint and experience, yeah. Like I said, there have been a few people claiming to tune around it, but I haven't found the silver bullet yet. The consensus from the OG's of the 6l80 tooners, were that the necessary tables werent defined yet and understanding on how the 6/8/10 speed worked at the beginning.
Again, I also believe in an added clutch plate in the 3-5-R, and also believe there might be a real way to toon for it, but so far, it's up to anyone's guess/experience.
