    L86 RPM Limit

Looking for some advice on how high i should spin my L86 up to and still be in a safe zone.
It is TSP cam 212/224 .610/.610 112 LSA
Dual .660 PAC springs and chromoly 3/8 pushrods
    Morel 7717 lifters

I understand that power is dropping off at higher RPM but my goal is that by spinning it higher it will be in peak power when it shifts and gets into the next gear. I was thinking of shifting at 6200 and setting the limiter to about 6400. Thoughts?

i run mine to 7000 shifting at around 6800 , i have GM caddy lifters ,btr springs , similar cam on a LSA , I would think that should be super safe. Car made 600whp on pump 93.

Get the dyno data in tabular form in 100 rpm increments. Then you can calculate avg power and torque over different rpm ranges since you know what the rpm drop will be when you shift. You can get really precise and account for torque multiplication if desired. Now you can select the high rpm shift point.

Having said that, I wouldn’t go beyond 6700 or 6800 on a stock bottom end. In addition, unless you swapped valves, the valve train is still heavy. Above 6500 you’re just making noise and abusing the engine so doing the math vs guessing would be best IMO
