    Exhaust Camshaft Code P000B

    Does anyone know how to clear code P000B on a Dodge Challenger Scat Pack after locking the camshaft phaser? The exhaust camshaft angle is 134 degrees, but the code is permanent and I can?t seem to clear it no matter how many start up idling and driving 200+ miles. My tune is set at max and min @ 134 degrees, but the code just won?t go away. Any ideas?

    did you disable the cam phasing in the tune ?

    have you tried to put everyting to stock and just disabling the cam fazer switch ?

    Yes. Whether the phaser is turned off with stock values, or with stock values changed, the code still exists.

    The permanent code will only clear if the conditions required for clearing are met.

    A permanent code is not an active code. Codes can be pending, active, or permanent. Pending means the conditions are met and the code will become active. Active means the conditions are met, and currently exists. Permanent means the code was active, but now the conditions are no longer present.

    For the code to clear, the pcm needs to go through whatever test criteria are required to prove to itself the issue is no longer present.

    If you have an active code which changes to permanent, and you adjust the tune to no longer allow the clearing sequence of events to occur, it will never clear.

    Hey Stoop. Yeah, I know about the code status’ and all. I was just hoping that there was a way to clear it besides letting the pcm do its thing. I just don’t want it there when my smog requirements for CA come due for a test. But, I did find something on permanent codes stored, and how the tech has to ignore any and all of them with 200 miles logged on the pcm and 15 warm-ups cycles from when it originated. So, I guess it won’t matter when it comes time to deal with, but it’s annoying seeing there every time I check vcm scanner, lol.

    There is no way to clear it without the PCM doing its thing. The point I was trying to make above is that making changes to the tune will not clear it, as the PCM must go through the test criteria even after the error condition is resolved or tune is updated to remove the trigger which would set the error condition.

    You have to put the tune (and potentially hardware) back into a state where the PCM can successfully execute the test criteria and remove the permanent code. Then reapply your tune (and/or hardware) changes when no pending, active or permanent codes are present.

    The only other way I know to try and do this would be to treat the PCM like a replacement. Meaning, write entire to it with either a backup, or a fresh OS ... then make the adjustments before flashing it onto the PCM.

    I don't have experience with doing this, but I've seen folks discuss it in other threads. Some of the guys on here have the ability to change OS, VINs, etc ...

    Like if you were to treat the PCM like a donor PCM, and have it flashed with your original backup.
