    knock real or false

    im getting knock around 72kpa @ 4000 to 4400 rpm from 3 to 8 . i cant hear no pinging at all. could my headers or exhaust pipe be rubbing some where causing the engine to pick up the noise as knock. and could i just lower the max knock retard settings to under the or over the kpa. to stop the light from coming on. im pretty sure its false knock? here is a scan 25-07-05 17-44-03.hpl , here is the tune 2003.gmc.seirra.5.7.4l80e.07.06.2025.hpt ive been tuning this to the best i know how. i did the ve first then the maf. im no pro lol. learning.

    well.. we arent there to check if your headers are rubbing...
    however i noticed around 4:24, you dont enter PE until 96kpa @3200ish rpm..... probably why its knocking...
    then at 5:25, you dont enter PE until 96kPa @3400 rpm.. should be going into PE closer to 70-80kpa anytime... because of the late entry, theres this giant spark knock flare at the max (8 degrees), then shortly after your stft goes as high at 58%, LT is like 25%.. ST stays lean as all get out, then it flatlines... not sure if the AFR gauge is correct, but the AFR stays @ 7-8.... and theres an OL fault error on the fuel system from then on.

    couldnt help but notice the 3 bar map also? whats with that?

    edit- looking at every instance of knock, it happens everytime because youre entering PE way too late, the latter instances i cant tell when its in OL or not after the fault.

    my mods to my truck, lowered all around, 5.3 bored to 5.7, 4l80e. 3600ptc stall billet, few sonnax up grades boost valve, few things, motor bored to 5.7 flat top pistons arp every thing, double roller timing chain, cam trick flow 585/585/ 228/230 112* lsa, 36lbs injectors ev6, walaboro fuel pump intank. 102mm tbody, tbss intake, 4" intake tube. long tube headers. i think my headers are rubbing the frame cause the engine to think its pinging.(knock). been fighting this for 5 years, it was not as much when i first got this thing going cause i had the headers wrapped with the exhaust wrap. i took that stuff off couldnt work on my truck with out that crap getting all over me. hate that shit. dont do it. i have this truck running very good bye tuning it. my plan is to buy a super charger , and to change the heads out. i have a set of 243's in the machine shop now, get the full monty, i plan on once i get the heads back and buy the super charger, it will be dyno tuned so i dont screw it up. but for now im trying to pin this knock crap down. im gonna beat the frame alil and beat on the headers so they dont touch. i just dont want to hurt my motor. lot money in this thing. i built this truck.

    man see thanks im new to this ls world. im learning tho, how wouldget it to go in to pe sooner, it feels like its going in but like you say the numbers are not gonna lie, i chaned the enrichment it was under 1 should raise it hire. i dont know i had two tunes done in the past one was a mail order, the other was a dude riding around tuning it. im no tuner, i just see the check engine light come on and know something isnt right.

    on the map, when i first started buy stuff someone told me to ge the 3 bar. i dont really know why. should i just put a 1 bar in then retune everything.could that be my issue

    Real Rich then Lean

    You mention light, I'm assuming check engine?
    What code is it reading?

    You are Lean leading into knock, fairly high intake air and coolant temp (not sure what ambient is)

    PE coming on at 50% throttle doesn't seem extrealy late
    EDIT... After reading comments above the MAP is pretty high, but you need to figure out the lean condition before too..

    I believe you might have some other things going on.
    Try this. I lowered the throttle % to get into PE. Added low numbers back into your low Octane table til you get this figured out. Added some to your VE in the areas of question, but I believe that will need lots more work.

    Something strange with you scanner, the log showed it at zero RPM in one of the areas where the AFR was extreamly rich.

    like i said i falled how to set up the afr to the letter from the guys on the you tube. i checked few times against few different guys on there. as i do other things i just dont go by one person saying how to set up i try to make sure its right. so if my afr isnt set up right then i guess my maf error isnt right . i had this thing tune bye two different peoples and both didnt catch the knocking. smh

    Was it as hot outside?

    yes extremly hot. upper 90* my truck has a real temp gauge i watch it closely truck runs like 180 to 186 usally

    i have the tube wrapped with stuff to try to keep temps down. and it has a stock filter box

    Do you have a vacuum referenced fuel pressure regulator?

    You injector flow rate vs kpa is flat at 39 Lb per hour, if your vacuum referenced thats okay though I question the 39 number as I thought you said 36lb...
