    Piston Slap Spark

2008 6.2 denali with 210k miles. When warming up and under normal acceleration I get an audible piston slip. Pretty common on the 6.2s on top of the mileage. I know the timing is effecting the "slap" as when it goes to shift and timing is pulled the slap goes away then comes back after the shift. I have never messed with the piston slap table and was curious how it works. Surely these values are not adding to the base timing correct? I have considered messing with some ECT/Timing tables but the pistons seem to expanded much slower than that of the coolant temp. Any info is appreciated.

if I were you, I?d half the entire table or zero it out and see how it goes from there. Seems like the engine is way over what the GM engineers intended for in terms of the piston slap table, might be harming you rather than helping. Start by removing 50% (select the whole table then enter 0.5 then hit X to remove 50%) and look at your logs, see what the KR or how audible it is afterwards. If it?s still pretty defined then zero it out completely and see what it does there.

I normally 0 the entire table and let em slap. What is it hurting besides some occasional noise?
