    8.1 Turbo MAF Delete

Looking for exact details on what to set in tune so MAF Fails Quickly. When engine is cold it takes about 2-3 starts stumbling to fail. But when engine is warm it takes couple dozen or more start attempts with me trying to manupulate throttle to keep it running long enough to fail. I have had a tuner look at it and he's never seen it this difficult to fail the MAF. Please Help!

Is there still a physical MAF on the vehicle?

Have you tried setting the fail frequency to 0 instead of 1?

Why do I keep seeing people set the fail frequency to something other than 0? I have wondered this for years. Back to the topic at hand, some p59 computers are slow to set the MAF fail, so we just put the airflow numbers the engine idles at in the first few spots of the MAF table. That lets the engine run for the couple of seconds it takes to fail the MAF.

I think it has to have an actual MAF on the vehicle for that to work. He does have values in the first 2 cells. (1500 and 1625) And it is a P01.

I never needed a MAF on a p59 for that to work. However, I never encountered a slow MAF fail on a p01, either. My question about why people use any number other than 0 for the fail frequency still stands.

There is no reason to set it to anything but 0. Try populating the whole MAF table with stock values instead of just fhe first two cells.

You know I was going to make a new file with the MAF disabled like I do but I had a thought..

You know that if the MAF doesn't fail the first start will be hard after a flash.. but the rest of the starts should be normal unless the codes are cleared. If you are getting a hard start every cold morning you have another issue.

Either the PCM doens't have keep alive battery power.. or my guess is this isn't building and holding fuel pressure like it should.

Sorry if I didnt explain well. This issue is after a flash or code reset. Trying to get the MAF to fail takes 30+ tries. After MAF Fail Code is thrown it has NO Issue.
