I can't even get past step 1.

Step1: Download latest version of VCM Editor. Check.
Step 2: Open VCM Editor. How? The set up wizard created no desktop icon. If I dig out the downloaded file and doubleclick it takes me to a wizard with options - Repair or Delete. Will not open anything.

Sounds like your virus protection is working over time. What computer and operator system are you working with?

Have you tried selecting the repair option? Try finding your recent downloads, right click on the run/open option.

Try turning off your virus protection before a new download of HPT as a test.

Click your start button, then you'll have to scroll down to the "H" category and your HPtuners file should be there. Click the down arrow to the right of it and that will open it. There you will find the editor and logger. If you right click on them you should get an option to "pin to task bar".
