The more I read the more confussed I get

I am currently building a '68 GMC Suburban. I have a Gen IV 6.0LS and 6L80, using wiring harness from PSI. engine cranks but that is it. I have a ECU from a 2012 Suburban. VATS has been disabled. the more I read about tuning the more confused I get. All I want for now is to get it running. I want to learn more about basic tuning, maybe delete VVT and change the cam later. The engine and ECU are not from the same vehicle ( trans. and ECU are) I have learned also since using VCM Scanner that ECU is for a 5.3. can I just get a stock 6.0 tune and flash ECU?
    Thanks for any suggestions Zeke

I'm just a hobbyist and I don't know where to find this info. at this time. You need to figure out what operating system's (OS) will work together with the TCM, ECU, engine, and transmission. If the pro's don't step in and help you out here, you may need to pay a pro to get you started.

You may want to repost your question in the Gen 4 section also to get more eyes on it.

If VATS is properly disabled you need to diagnose the no start like any other no start. Spark, injector pulse, etc. If it is a stock engine there should be no tooning required to make it start and run, beyond disabling VATS.

You should post the tune and a datalog of it trying to start. Perhaps we can see something you are not and get you on the way.
