What is the point of this forum, really? Every answer from you on here is some snarky response with zero substance. Or an answer without an answer word salad.

I'm guessing this response is because the original ask was ambiguous.
A CM2100 has something like 2800 editable parameters (not all in the HPT editable range). Asking for 'the xdf files' doesn't say much about what it's for.

Yes, Jim (and others here) talk in a pseudo code. But, when a guy spends thousands of hours to develop parameter files, they're not exactly handing it out to the world. Those that know what he's talking about will pick up on it, and sometimes it leads them down a correct path. I'm one of those guys that has had an 'ah-ha' moment after reading one of his so called cryptic posts.

To answer your question, what is the point of the forums; 20 years ago when I joined, it was about teaching, learning, and sharing.
However, people started stealing each others work, and locking it behind advertising. It became a game of who can pedal their stuff harder.
So now, it's a place where people try to sell you their latest rip off.

And honestly, outside of time constraints from other stuff I got going on currently, what you just said, it’s the biggest driving factor for me to be far less active and really give anything too much of anything. We call it a free world that we live in but it gets taken to the point it’s become the expected norm that EVERYTHING should be free and if it’s not, steal it. The industry has literally been destroyed by the theft of others tuning and work and being resold by people that really have zero clue what they are doing, incapable of providing any kind of revision to the stolen work they are selling as their own all because they want to capitalize on the driving factor that people still want emissions deletes and there is very few out there that still legitimately know what they are doing that still do it. Yeah it’s a free world, which means you are free do to as you please so long as you aren’t causing harm in any fashion to others, it doesn’t encapsulate the freeloader mentality, stealing others work, etc etc

There are very good reasons why the knowledge of emissions deletes isn’t just spread out freely for the world. Can find the paths to get towards that direction if you search hard enough and you pay for it but you are still going to be on your own to figure out how to do it correctly at some point down that path.

Very very little I actually create xdf’s for or cax files for EFILive because the work is far greater than it’s actually worth for something that would be used once and never again when things can be set how they need to be with greater ease and just have a single calibration file as a base file for everything else you do afterwards because you never have to revisit that stuff once it’s set. The time and effort to go into xdf’s largely just isn’t worth it for 99% of things.

I’ll give a little bit of not secret bit of information that has been said on here before. The CM2100 ecm’s, you want to do emissions delete all on your own and tuning all on your own, get EFILive, has everything you need right there in the software. Set your computers location to anything but the USA, install EFILive, read your CM2100 and have at it shutting off emissions and tuning.

I agree wholeheartedly with all that about theft and the tuning world, I get it, spent years staring at numbers trying to figure it out. But this post is helpful to the guy at least sending him in the right direction at the same time not giving away tuning secrets.
    Great post!
