    2011 Ram 1500 w/ new TSP Stage 3 5.7 won?t idle

After a trashed cam replacement, I installed a TSP Stage 3 cam with phaser limiter. I replaced the lifters with Comp cam Non MDS and Did the delete plugs. Also installed a Mellings high Volume oil pump.

I have been messing with the Air/fuels for the past couple of days trying to get this thing to run with no luck. I?ve logged many of the tunes with my MVPI3 and keep chasing my tail. No matter what I do the fuel map keeps pulling 15-30 and it just dies out. Seems to run alright for awhile when cold, but hot is another story. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

There is a lot more to getting them to run then just messing with air tables. Post up your tune you are working with.

VE Table is wrong, you have ANN still on and that will ignore the VE table, you have not change any spark table/airflow or Idle RPM.

did you verify correct pushrod length. actually measured. #1 reason i see on dodges for not wanting to idle, is pushrods too long and hanging valves open

I'm still really new to this tuning thing. Grew up working on carbureted engines my whole life, so this tuning thing is a learning experience...... fun but, very tedious. I'm going to double check all of the startup RPMs and make sure I check the Neutral Network out. Thank you.

Just put the same length factory push rods in. When I spoke with TSP they said that factory length would be fine. I do have a rod checker that I can verify that to be true though. Thanks you for the input.

    Latest Log After disabling ANN

After it settles in a little the timing starts jumping all over the place and it all goes south from there.

First thing is the stock Push rod length isn't correct as even the stock file will allow it to start and it will idle until the 02 kick on , 2. there is alot of things you need to do to the tune for it to work right but you need to measure you push rod length and correct it . TSP always locks the VVT as well .

    Huh!?

I put the limiter in myself. I have the description of parts that came with it and it says limiter? I know most dodges have about 26* of VVT and It seems the limiter took about half of that away? I will however be verifying Push Rod length later this week. Not in a huge rush to fix this, just a father son project that has gotten a little techie. I appreciate your input though.

changed some idle rpm and minimun timing if you want to try it and see if it changes, whats wierd to me is its hanging at 1000 rpm

here is a more complete channel list

There's still a lot of problems with this file and you've created more. If tuned properly, you should never have to touch the minimum spark table. Changing that table the way you did is a sure sign the person doesn't know what they're doing.

i know there is a lot that needs to be done in that file, the minimum tables is a easy way to control the timing a bit, i still have a lot to learn but i try to help with what i can, the purpose of that file is to see what it does at idle, low idle was set at 1000 rpm and the others not modified, that's why i did what i did but please enlighten me, thats why im here to learn

It's partly due to the fact it can't pulling the timing any lower than 5 degrees.

    And it's pulling -30%.

Try this. Hopefully will at least tell us if there are any mechanical issues going on here., I believe Texas speed cams use push rods that arer shorter nby .025 or .050. I want to say you use 8.075 / 6.775" push rods if you are using a factory block and eagle heads that have not been decked.

I never decked it. Still using factory length push rods, but I did replace them with new one’s. I plan on double checking those lengths the next day I have off to verify. Initially I thought it was a push rod length issue. Also I went and put new gas in since it has been sitting for over a year and I think that had a little to do with it….. so flushed the lines and it fired up on the cold start I just logged. It wouldn’t even run without pedaling the throttle prior to that.

Which tune were you running? And you are saying that you no longer need to use the throttle to start it but had to before?
