    MAP Timing?

What effect does the MAP Sensor have on timing?

We are having a tough time tuning a turbo'd 6.2, the timing jumps all over, looks to be in relation to map sensor? It also will change the AFR when the timiing drops, this happens under light load.

We are using the MAF still, there is no easy way to go to SD on this app.

    Thanks
    Rory

You have some serious KR on that thing. I would address that first and foremost. 15 degrees of KR in some places. You should be able to hear it knocking!
Dynamic Cylinder Air will determine where you are at on the spark tables.
Pull down a config for the E67 ECM in the truck from the stickies in this forum. I'll put up the one I use. There are some histograms in the Gen IV stickies as well. Get them too.

I can't open the file you attached. I keep getting
    Unable to parse log??

We are working on the timing.

    Thanks

We are also getting a P0101 and P0121.

I have attached the current file we are using.

    Thanks for the help.

    Note,

We do get full boost 9psi at about 40% throttle and 2400 rpm.

You save that file to your HP Tuners\VCMSuite2 directory. Histograms go in HP Tuners\VCMSuite2\Histograms.

You don't open it except with the scanner.

    Map sensor maxed out?

Our logs are showing that with the turbo boosting so quickly we are getting to 103kpa on the stock 1 bar map at 1700 rpm. Even at part throttle (above 53%).

I know MAP is part of the Dynamic airflow calcs but, do you think we are running into a condition where the ecu is trying to compensate for what it thinks (based on the MAP readings) is full throttle and effecting fueling and/or timing?

We are experiancing lean conditions and heavy knock, completly random under medium and heavy loads at low rpm's.

    Thanks,

Set your PE EQ ratio to ~11.5 AFR (1.277) except at the low end (0-2000 RPM) where I would make it 12.2 (1.203) Then tune the MAF around it.

And knock down the timing a bunch. You have WAY too much. Start out around 10 degrees and work up if you can. I have run into a lot of TT apps on Gen IV's that won't take more than 8 degrees and put out ~550 RWHP at ~8-9 PSI. Much higher with Methanol. (Highly recommended!)

    Thanks for the info.

In attempt to not ask a dumb question...
What table would you use to tune the MAF around the PE?

    THanks again,

MAF Hi generally. MAF Lo is cruising around & light throttle. Make sure you're logging MAF Hz and you have the histograms I posted in the config & histogram repository stickey. That way the histograms will separate out the Lo & Hi table nicely for you.
