    New Tuner here

I am on a budget and I am looking to buy a used version of HPTuners.
Is it a feasable option? Should I avoid it? What are the possible issues I may encounter?

I want to tune my 05 GTO. Nothing else. And I am not going SD either.

just make sure if you buy used your buying the USB capable MPVI unit...the earilier serial versions are not compatible with many of the newer pcm's including your 05 GTO's.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

    Hi,

I am buying from a fellow GTO owner. He said that it had 4 credits remaining, but that they 'dissappeared' and that he is talking to you (Bill) to get them restored?
He has a unit that came with 8 credits and he used 4 to do a 2bar SD on his GTO

lol, credits don't just dissappear. But I'll reserve judgement in this situation until I hear back from him from the email I sent yesterday morning.

    easy way to tell
is to follow this step by step
it will tell you exactly where the liscenses have been used

    http://www.hptuners.com/help/introdu...cense_info.htm

also...if the Unit was an MPVI Upgrade..it doesnt get 8 new credits..it just got the persons previous liscenses transfered over to it...
so they could have a couple of model/year liscenses from an old Serial style interface, and thats all the unit would have on it.

Once I receive this and get the credits, how do I move the registration to my name, in order to make use of this site and what it offers?

Changing ownership You can have the original owner do one of the following:

Change the account information by logging into the server (his password is
the original email address used to purchase VCM Suite).
    http://www.hptuners.com/

Have the current owner contact us using the original email address and have
him tell us about the transfer of ownership and for which serial number.

    Credits in Customer center

Do the credits that appear in Account Credits online ever get updated? Mine reads 8 credits, although there is none on the Hardware.

thats how many credits get issued with the initial purchase. If you purchased used then you'd need to look at the Help-License info screen to see how many have been used & how many of the credits you have left on the hardware.

Yeah, I did that, and there are none left (missing credits as discussed higher up in the thread). I was really just wanting to know whether the number online ever gets updated with what was physically on the hardware.
