    Hummer H2 Manual Transmission Swap - Pemliminary Questions

    I am helping a friend (who is helping me with some fabrication chores on my BMW M3 402 LS2 swap) with his truck.

    2003 Hummer H2, 408 iron block with a Magnuson blower. Figure around 700 hp, give or take. Stock 4l65-E's seem to last for several months then the output shafts snap. He wants to convert the truck to a manual transmission.

    I think I have the research done to be able to do the physical installation to get the NV4500 and transfer case (either whatever is native behind a NV4500, the electronic version of the same or an Atlas Case) installed in the truck.

    I have some questions about the electronics.

    I apologize if these questions are basic, but I want to make sure that I know what needs to be done.

    The plan will be to use HP Tuners (which I should have by that time). I have done tuning using other programs on non-GM applications, so I am familiar with it, but have never done anything like this.

    1. Does HP Tuners have the capability to change everything necessary to have the truck run with a manual (assume that stuff like the clutch interlock is taken care of and that the base tune is not going to be altered)?

    2. What, if anything, needs to be done to the traction control system and can HP tuners do it?

    I know many people on here have gone auto>manual on thier cars; you just turn off some codes and such. As for TCS, Gotta wait for someone else to pop up in here.

    ...or you could just throw a built 80E in there and be done with it. Those mofos are pretty tough.

    Thanks for the info.

    You can do a 4l80 swap but you need to swap transfer cases or have the 4l80s output shaft needs to be machined down and re-splined to fit the stock one, which is the problem area.

    The owner wants a manual so that is what he is going to try to do. I don't think he would mind if traction control goes, but hopefully it can be retained.

    Traction control is independant of Torque Management etc... So you should be able to retain TC.

    The swap is done and it is working just fine

    We used HP Tuners to remove all of the Auto transmission codes.
