P0103 is for MAF fail to force SD. It's done on purpose.

Knock sensor codes are a hardware issue. Since it's an intermittent problem, be 100% that all factory grounds knock sensor wiring is good.

Think I got it fixed, I hope. Drove it around and didn't go off as fast so we will see.

ground strap on the back driver's side wasn't connected. it goes from firewall to engine guess I missed. It was dangling in the back like it was connected till I grabbed it.

Edit: to confirm i believe it was the ground strap drove it over 4 times as long to when i cleared the codes before

Yes that one's important. Don't forget there are a bunch of little grounds that stick out of the wire harness.

I tried finding good diagrams for you back when I asked about grounds a few pages ago. There's a post in this forum that lists the grounds with descriptions, but the links are dead. It's a huge pain finding specific diagrams.

All those factory grounds are there for a reason. Might as well unbolt and clean all of them while you're at it.

I realize only a richie-rich snob (which I definitely am not) would say something like this but, if you're doing your own repairs I don't see how you hope to get anywhere at all except deeper into a hole without your own service manuals. I'm happy to post diagrams for people but relying on the kindness of strangers to get the basic essentials you need is, I dunno. Stingy? Assholeish? Not speaking directly about you specifically, just the general attitude of so many people who don't think they need to pay since they can just ask and someone will post up what they need as if they deserve it or something.

Service info subscription from GM is pretty expensive if you want to maintain it, but you can get full access to everything for 3 days for only $20, during which time you screenshot every diagram and pinout that looks like it might be something you might need to touch someday. For the stuff that isn't suited to screenshotting, browser plugins that save a complete webpage as a .pdf are common as dirt and free. Pay your $20 one time and go slurp up all that sweet delicious information.

Other options like alldatadiy give you access to manuals for a per-VIN fee and are much more reasonable if you want something long-term you can go back to again and again whenever you need it.

I converted that latest tune over to the flex fuel OS. This .HPT should be flashable, you have to write entire. I would NOT apply the speed density enhanced OS mod until you run it and confirm it works, 4wd works, etc..

    Base bin
    • 2002 6125 OS for 8.1L, 4L80e, 2wd

    • PCM SN corrected

    • VIN corrected

    • System Option changed to 4wd with ATC

    • Flex Fuel patch (applies settings to the flex fuel tables)

    • Last good tune settings copied over, note I couldn't enable the random misfire DTC for some reason

This .HPT file has the Flex Fuel tables configured. The Flex Fuel option is set to disabled. The Flex Fuel DTCs are not configured. This tune should usable to dial in the pump gas tune and easy to enable the flex fuel when a sensor is added. Please note I am not a professional but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night I'd take it easy and make sure it is right before you hammer on it.

That's one of the EPA codes. You haven't completed the HPT EPA training.

Thanks for working on this btw. It'd be cool to have flexfuel enabled.

wow that's pretty awesome of you to do all this. just to confirm I should be able to write this in right now?

I guess my year timed out. I'll have to retake the test. Figured I would have got a warning or something.

The guy that made me flex fuel sensor stuff is wanting to add one to his LS swapped Dakota, it is running a p01 5.3/4l80e/NP263. So it is fun to figure it out. It should just flash in if you write entire and run.

Starts and runs but the fuel gauge stopped working.

hmmm, I'll have to think about that. Would a 8.1L truck have a different cluster? I wouldn't think so. Grab a log, it will have codes, maybe there is a gas tank size setting or something. trying to drive it a bit to make sure it shifts gear, etc. Also see if 4 low works and shifts like it suppose to. Like it doesn't hold 1st gear, it doesn't shift all the way up to 4th at 5mph.

ok everything seems to run well, 4wd high and auto work but not 4 low. however, a few issues the start and park idle are high it hung around 1200 when i started it up and it climbed a little, and when I came back an put it in park it was almost 2k. the driving idle at a stop was around 1200 and didn't go down. I did have a code pop p0462 low level sensor circuit low and the low-level fuel light and also gauge not working. also, I was getting some knock not near as bad as before.

That tune has the default alcohol percentage set to 0%. Presumably he intentionally did that since you don't have a sensor plumbed in yet. However, you are probably running 10% ethanol gasoline, so that may have a minimal effect on your fueling. There are also several fuel and spark modifier tables that will now come into play with a flex tune, so be careful about flashing something in without looking over everything very carefully. Enjoy your dive down the rabbit hole.

I wonder if the 8.1L used a different pinout for 4low and the fuel gauge. I'll try to find them and compare. Did you ever test 4low on the old tune? Sirius may have some insights on the idle. This a drive by cable truck, right? The tune looks like it was a drive by wire, but ETC isn't enabled in the platform and the DTCs are disabled.

The value at 0% matches up with the original tune's stoich value (well 14.68 verse 14.62). I am not buying the change the stoich to 14.1 to make up for e10, maybe someone can articulate it to me better. Narrowbands look for 1 lambda, it shouldn't matter the fuel. Also the narrowband o2s don't do a good job at 14.1, they are narrowly dialed in for 14.7. The flex fuel option is disabled, of course with no sensor it defaults to 0%. As I understand it, none of the modifier tables should be applied, unless you know something I don't. If you do, I'd like to know so I can learn, thanks!

I changed the "unused" system option from 1 to 0. See if that helps with the idle.

You should be able to just write the cal.
