    U0101 Code - Flashed wrong?

    Hi!

I'm looking to purchase an mpvi3 but figured I'd ask some questions first to make sure I don't do anything wrong and waste credits. I have a 5.3 from a 2007 avalanche with an early 4l80e behind it in my 1960 c10. Harness was done by a vendor and I also purchased a new e38 ecm and sent my t42 tcm to get flashed together. Now I have a u0101 code and it seems like the truck is in a higher gear when I try to move it, reverse seems to work fine though. I've read about a gen 4 express van tune that I might need in order to get the tcm to work properly. Other than that, any ideas for the code? The VSS also seems to think it's moving according to the scanner.

Any ideas would be awesome! Thanks!

Maybe, but would need to see the tune file to say whether there's an ECM/TCM OS mismatch. Could also be a wiring issue. Or Mercury is in retrograde?

If the ECM/TCM OSes aren't compatible, both will still send data to the DLC and a scan tool, but they won't be able to send data to each other.

I'm gonna go with mercury in retrograde! Ok, going to buy HPTuners tonight. How would I be able to tell if there's an OS mismatch?

Searching by the OS ID number should bring up what year/make/model it came from. There is a split in the CAN protocol in early/mid-2009 (depending on the platform). Both OSes have to be either before that breakpoint or both after, else they can't talk to each other.

You will be able to see a screen like this once you read the file out of it...

Shows the OS IDs, the individual segment IDs, and the CVN hash which can be used to check if anything in a segment has been changed (stock IDs/CVNs can be looked up by VIN at https://tis2web.service.opel.com/tis2web/).

People say all sorts of non-reality-based things these days.

Thank you! Got my mpvi3 in the mail finally and was able to get the info.

The e38 is showing as a 2011 Silverado 5.3 with the OS 12639835. The TCM isn't showing up at all. The TCM was from a 2008 avalanche, not a 2007 if that makes a big difference. The original e38 that came with the engine had a broken connector so I bought a refurbished and calibrated e38 from the company that did my harness. I also sent them the TCM so they would work together.

Another issue is that the speed in scanner says its going 158mph when idling and not moving but I think that's from the TCM not being found.

    Any advice?

Talk to whoever you got the harness from, only they will know how they wired the CAN.

I hate whenever threads are left with mystery so I'm posting how I figured it out. Made sure that Pin 31 had 12v on ignition, checked for 12v on Pin 32 (didn't have power, fixed that), made sure Pin 49 had ground and Pin 37/38 is my CAN which was good since its wired in series with the ECM (ECM wouldn't show up on HPTuners if they were wrong). Also made sure that Pin 11 had 12v on ignition.

I thought that fixing the no power on Pin 32 would fix the issue but I still had no read on HPTuners. Since I was able to confirm everything else was good, I ordered a new T42 TCM and that solved the issue. Reading correctly now.

Thanks for taking the time to post the fix. I sure wish everyone would do the same!
