Re: 2 bar map for 3800

I don't have hptuners (I'm waiting on 2.0 with USB), but what I am expecting out of the software is be able to tune for LT1 MAF and 36 lb GTP injectors. This should up the top of the range where the computer is delivering measure amounts of fuel to air from approximatly 250 hp to approximately 475 hp. This would be over a bar of boost, so why the need for a 2 bar map? (although using GTP parameters up to the 1.4 bar limit would make sense).

I am I missing something here?

Re: 2 bar map for 3800

MAP sensors are specified in absolute terms.ie.

    1 bar = ~105kPa = atmospheric = 0 boost (0 PSI)
    2 bar = ~210kPa = atmos + 1bar = 1bar boost (~15 PSI)
    3 bar = ~315kPa = atmos + 2bar = 2bar boost (~30 PSI)

so although you have a "2bar" sensor it only reads up to 1bar of boost (15 PSI).

2 bar definitly wouldnt work as it stands...they would need to rework the os's like stated...now the 1.5 bar the gtp's use might work...that im not sure about but even that only goes to like 8-9psi before you max ou tyour ve table.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Why the need for a 2 bar MAP if the HPtuners lets you use an lt1 MAF and 36 lb (or more) injectors?

So the stock MAP reads the same from 0 to 15 psi of boost, what is that hurting if the upgraded MAF is measuring air correctly?

    i'm taling about the Fbody

the maf maxes at 11500 Hz no matter what (even if i set the lb/min to 80 min max it still maxes. and would cut IPW in half when it did, we got that to stop but the maf is still going to max out and after that there is no way to add fuel to my car other then dumping it in th PE table and that's shooting in the dark

and I'm talking about upgrading to the lt1 MAF (which won't reach 11,500 Hz until 471 g/s [62 lb/min] (way more than the 170 g/s stock MAF limit) on the 3800 f-body

email me your bin and i can add the maf fail freq for it.

that way at least your MAF will stay on the last value in the table and you can adjust the fuel to keep the mixtures right.

Chris...you did that for me already

so what should i do to make sure i got the fuel i need then ? put it at like 80lb/min or something ?

    The f-body lt1 MAF:

uses the same 3 pin connector as the stock V6 MAF
    and
    more g/s air then LS1 MAF (428 g/s?) at 11,500 Hz

    lol, so many emails

once the MAF reaches the max point the easiest way is to use the PE table to richen the fuel up.

Re: 2 bar map for 3800

I have been looking into the aftermarket turbo kits for the 3800, and I have not seen any mention of a new map or maf sensor in any of the kits...they DO however have a custom PCM shipped with the kit.

What exactly are they "customizing" that allows for over 20 lbs of boost with no mods to any of the sensors?

they probly stop the maf from maxing and richen up the fuel with the PE table like i have have

What alot of people are using are AFC's to part out the signal of the MAF so they don't quite max it out.

I wish hptuners had the capability of 3bar but we're testing out 3bar capability on my GTP as we speak.
I won't be able to edit my fueling myself though which sucks.

It's going to be done using actual hex and another tuner.
If Hptuners can't support 3 bar, I don't think i'll be able to edit it.
