TC Wont Lock When Cold Out

I have a question for you folks.
Is there a way to have the TC lock up automatically sooner when the motor and trans is cold?

On the way to work on mornings with 35 or colder, TC lockup wont happen at all on a 27 mile trip, mostly highway.
On the way home it works fine with temps of 50 deg or better.

I have looked in the A4 tables but found nothing pertaining to activating temps.

    Thanks ahead
    Dave

Re: TC Wont Lock When Cold Out

    Just came upon this thread.............

According to my 98 vette service manual, the trans temp has to reach 64*,
and the engine coolant has to reach 140*before the TCC will lock.
I'm guessing that the spec's would be similar on you car..
I can't imagine that you would not reach these temperatures on a 35*
day, ( My vette with a transmission cooler and a HD radiator (180* stat)
will lock up inside of 10 minutes on a 20* day.)
Perhaps you have a temperature sensor ,coolant or transmission getting flakey.
Scan the 2 temps and see what they are getting up to, may give a lead as to
    the cause.
Another possibility is a misfire causing this but why only on cold days would
    be strange.

Re: TC Wont Lock When Cold Out

I figured it had to reach the temps before ingageing but I thought I could just over ride it to go into lock up right away.

Thanks for the advice, I'll scan the temps on my way to work tomorrow.
Its suppose to be in the teens tonight so I should see right away what it is.
