Make the interface "HOT" pluggable, so if the vech. acts up it can be plugged in without shutting off, as sometimes those intermittent problems might not show up after a restart.

that would be a good use for one of those blank areas where they could put another button

and actually...why not add 4 buttons that are assignable..and add 2 led's that would be directly tied to EIO assignable outputs....so you coud luse them as triggger LED's and not have to wire an external one...
I built one to monitor Knock with an LED that lights up when ther eis knock..easier than trying to watch it on the screen

Oooooooooo...an LED to monitor knock. Yes please. I should be getting an XD-1 gauge for Christmas...if not, I'm gettin one anyways. The LED would be the shizzle.

I'm not sure if this has already been said, but since you are talking about a black box logging capability, maybe make one button an "insert marker" button so as you are going down the road, you could at least have it in your lap so you can press a button before doing a WOT run, if it is bucking, etc.

I like that idea! I have something like that in a gauge on my Buick GN for knock and it is sweet.

Yeah...it pisses people off when I drive it around. I mean...give me a break. I'm blind. I can't tell if you are driving your car next to mine. Reading the braile on street signs is a real bitch when I'm doing some spirited driving.
