    CASE Learn Feature?

I read in a different forum that starting with version 1.5 that your HP Tuner will have the capability to preform a CASE Learn procedure for 3800 motors.

    1) Is this true and if it is does this feature continue with the newer versions?

    2) If not will it be available soon?

    TIA

I was just making sure because I think the tuner is the next thing on my list to purchase and it will be a HP Tuner. I heard nothing but praise for your tuner. Good job and I hope it works for me as it is for others.

    Re: CASE Learn Feature?

I finally installed the software and under vcm controls special is only Idle (IAC) control. I don't see :

Cylinder Balance: The cylinder balance test calculates % of efficiency using current RPM. RPM is gauged with all injectors running normally. Injectors are then cut 1 cylinder at a time and the new RPM is compared to the pre-test RPM to determine % of efficiency. To use this test the main scanner must be stopped. You must also control the IAC steps as well for consistency.

    or

CASE Learn: To use the CASE learn function please follow these steps:
Put the vehicle into park (auto) or neutral (manual).
Turn off all accessories and A/C.
    Apply the parking brake.
Press the brake pedal. Keep the brake pedal depressed during the entire procedure.
    Press Begin.
Gradually rev the vehicle to fuel cutoff (around 4000-5000 RPM's) over a period of about 4 seconds. When fuel cuts out, immediately release the throttle.
Allow the engine to come back to an idle.
Turn the ignition off for at least 15 seconds. This step is required for the VCM to store the newly learned configuration.

    What am I doing wrong?

yeah if you read the help file for 2.0 & the "whats new in 2.0" section it tells you there are a few things not yet in 2.0 but will be in an upcoming update.

With the tech II you floor the vehicle (WOT) until fuel cutoff not gradual, thats more than likely what you are doing wrong.

no read his post again...he says "I dont see"- Case learn...thats because its not in the newest version of the software. I've never had a problem doing case learns the way its stated in hpt help files.

    Crank Angle Sensor Error (C.A.S.E.)

The PCM needs to know where the Crankshaft is at all times... so the case learn basically teaches the PCM at waht point the crank is (so it knows which pistons are in compression, power, exhaust, intake stroke)

There's a 24 tooth reluctor wheel (ls1s and 05 LS2s) that the crank sensor reads from...

It's only necessary if you put a new PCM in your car or if you do a full rewrite (not always necessary but it'll set a code for a Crank Relearn if necessary)

So does the 2.O.17 version that I just received do case learns or do I have to wait for a software upgrade? Ive just received this and haven't had that much time to go through it, but I do not see the option under "Special". Please could someone clarify this.

2.0.17 does not have the case learn feature. It will be a software upgrade. We hope to have it in there for the upcomming 2.0.18 release.
