I just purchased an MPVI3 and my PCM is currently on its way to HPTuners to get unlocked (2017 Ram 1500 5.7L). Before I get my PCM back, I did want some insight on how to proceed with tuning and tune files. I received my MPVI3 prior to sending my PCM. So I did a read file on the ECM and TCM prior to removing the PCM to be sent in for unlocking so that I had the base (stock) tune just in case.
And in VCM Suite after the read, I saw in an info tab that it showed I had 6 credits, and 0 used.

    1. When I get the unlocked PCM back and installed, will I need to do another stock file read?
    2. Will that read, at that point, use my credits to save it?
    3. What is the best way to read and/or write files and flash to my truck so that I do not need to purchase additional credits other than the 6 I currently have (2 for ECM, and 4 for TCM)?
    4. If I save (or register) the stock file read, am I able to modify that file and save it with a different file name and write to the vehicle without having to purchase additional credits? As well as continuously modifying the file as I learn and get more proficient with the platform, saving under a different revision name, and flashing the modified files to the same vehicle?
    5. I want to learn how to use this interface and how to tune this vehicle. So I will be gradually getting more confident in my abilities, hopefully. But let's say I tune my vehicle, and get impatient and decide to pay a reputable tuner to write a tune for me so I can have fun driving with a good tune in the meantime, while I am still learning to tune. i.e. I will have used the 6 credits for my learning experience, but have purchased a tune from a knowledgeable tuner as well -> Will I have to purchase 6 more credits to use the tune from the professional?

Sorry for the lengthy post. But I have read through the forum, and other forums in search of these answers, and quite frankly I am still unsure and would like a more definite answer to these questions. I've read that the license is tied to the vehicle VIN and PCM OS, but then I've seen that the license is tied to the tune file. I would appreciate any "suitable for dummies" explanation to my questions, if possible.

Blackronin22 and Bowtie 1979, was it asking you to buy more credits for ECU or TCM. If you bought 2 credits to read and write to the ECU but you did not buy credits for the TCM and you have the editor set to write to both...it will ask to purchase credits, but for the TCM.
