to go sd or not (2 or 3 bar)

I'm having trouble getting the idle hunting to stop on the truck (see thread: http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21614) and I was wishing I could have RTT, which got me thinking. I have a GM map sensor, not sure 2 or 3 bar it came with an autometer boost guage that i'm no longer using. Should I go ahead and go with SD and figure it out from there, or work on the MAF tune until I nail down the problem? I'm only running between 8-12lbs of boost.

    What do ya think?

If I do go with a 2-3 bar OS, besides wiring up the MAP sensor, all I have to do is copy the VE table over, then populate the boost regions?

You could go 1 bar MAF and still have the RTT I'm pretty sure. If you were F/I I would reccomend at least 2 bar SD but if your not F/I having closed loop and a MAF really simplifies tuning IMO.

Sorry just reread your original post, you should def go with at least a 2 bar OS, there are so many benifits. I love the boost enrichment table! Not to mention a MAF is not accurate in boosted apps.

if you run a 2 or 3 bar MAP you need to have the OS 'calibrated' for that....ie you need a 2 or 3 bar OS for it to read the MAP correctly.

someone correct me if i'm wrong, i'm not 100% sure.

Yeah if you run a 2 bar map you need an OS with a VE table that goes to 2 bar, the same for 3 bar also. You cant run a 2 0r 3 bar sensor on a 1 bar OS, if you did and it somehow did run it would run very bad.

I've got the 3bar map sensor hooked up, 3bar os, modified the VE table, PE table and the boost enrich table.

Do you have to change anything else? For instance, the MAF vs. Frequency table, or does it just not reference it anymore even though it's still there?

It doesn't reference it anymore. Set the MAF fail high rate to 0 in Engine Diagnostics as well.

I forgot to mention I had done that as well. Thanks for the info.
