LA & Las Vegas hot spots when traveling

We are planning a holiday to the U.S for LA and Las Vegas, what i would like to know is what are the hot spots in theses areas and what should we look out for? are ther any areas we should stay away from? which are the best kept secrets that all the tourists don't know about?

    Cheers

    DTS in So Cal!!! LOL

Seriously though, the beaches in the LA area are a must visit. Redondo, Malibu, and Zuma beaches are very nice. As to other places to vist in LA, you can't miss by visiting Hollywood and the re-vamped Griffith Observatory.

If you like the arts, The Museum of Art on Wilshire is a must see as well as the LaBrea tar pits for natural history.

Stop off in Burbank to see the studios and eat at Bob's-Big-Boy (the original one) for some good burgers.

While in the Vega$ area make sure you spend one day at Hoover Dam. It's worth taking at least one of the tours if not both. Amazing construction!
