Upgrading my Serial EIO box to more vehicles

Right now I have a box that tunes all 2003 Chevy Avalanches. How much to upgrade to another vehicle type?

What I'm wondering is, is the old upgrade plan in place for the old interfaces? You used to be able to get entire vehicle years for a certain price. If so, what is the price? If not, what is the price per VIN?

Existing serial cables follow the old pricing (so 199 each for first 4 unlimited licenses, 399 each after that) , new cables use the credit system (so 299 for unlimited LSx year/model aka 6 credits no matter how many)

Serial doesn't offer VIN/PCM locking, all or nothing only

Alright, I'm not too clear on this....any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

I ordered before you got two vehicle type automatically (I supported HPT way back when). All I got at the time was the ability to tune one vehicle type/year, and I chose the 2003 Avalanche.

At this point, how much would it cost me to add another vehicle type, like let's say, 2004 Silverado?

w/the serial cable it'd be 199 to add an unlimited license (basically, you have 1 spot used now, so you can add 3 more for 199, then it jumps to 399... main reason I believe was because they looked at it as if you are adding that many licenses, you're likely tuning as a business and not just a hobbyist)

Well that doesn't seem very fair....I've paid $650 already (EIO) and all I can tune is one vehicle, which I no longer own. I'm not a business, all I want to do is make use of this huge investment I've made. Are you sure about this pricing?

well for 100% accuracy you'd want to email sales at hptuners dot com (you'll have to use that email address anyways since ther'es no online order process for the old cables)

But I'm pretty sure that's the price... the 2 license with purchase didn't come out until the cable was out for a while and was a strategic decision (it's like when I bought my GTP and got a supplier discount, then 3 months later GM starts offering employee discounts to all ... I was a bit peeved at first, but when I bought the car I was happy w/the price and what I got)

But best bet is to email sales to get an official answer

If you find out, post here please. I am exactly in the same boat. I bought this back at version 1.4.5 (Serial, no wideband, etc) for the 2003 vette, and now I no longer own the car, and never even hooked up VCM to it. So I am trying to sell it, or figure out whether I should keep it and somehow figure out how to use it on some other vehicle...

to add an LS1 year/model license to an existing serial cable is $199 for the first 4 licenses. After that it is $399 per year/model. Note that year/model licenses allow unlimited tuning for that year/model of vehicle.

The lower price for the first 4 was due to not having single vehicle (VIN) licensing on the serial cable like we do now for the MPVI.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Chris,

First off, thanks again for helping me with my re-write problem the other evening.

I read the info on your website, and did email sales a couple of times, but haven't received a response.

I'm trying to decide whether to repair my serial EIO (any 2003 Corvette) or upgrade to the new USB with data logging.

I can't figure out what the upgrade cost would be, and what I'd be able to do with the new interface. Still any 2003 Corvette, or just mine (although I've never used it on anyone else', despite offering to do so), and do I have to choose other vehicles immediately?

    Thanks again, and best regards,

    Bill

upgrade cost would either be $149 for standard usb or $199 for the pro mpvi and your existing license would be transferred over. If you wanted to add a vin lock or year locked vehicle you would purchase the needed amount of credits online...they will send you a new "key" via email(no more downloads) then just plug in the key into your existing editor...then its just a matter of going to the car you want to add onto your unit & attempt to read it...at that point it will prompt you with how you'd like to license it(either vin, year, or tunershop) at that point you'd make your choice and your on your way to reading the computer
