Engine Coolant Temperature vs. Low Temp Tstat

My next engine mod will be a 160 degree tstat. I have seen that the Engine Coolant Temperature is a parameter in several tables. Besides changing the obvious Fan Stage on/off temps, shouldn't the minimum and/or maximum ECT be modified throughout the editor? Or does the HPTuner software adjust this parameter based on Fan Stage on/off temps?

Most of the tables I've seen act the same at 177F as
194F (the "160" and stock normal ECT centers). You
can just change cell entries slightly if you find ones
that aren't. The "threshold limits" for closed loop etc.
are well below where the "160" will have you running.

Where are the thresholds for temp to go into closed loop? I will be adding a T-stat also, I want to know what to change besides the Fan settings to get optimum performance.

    Thanks again.

You are going to want to take a look at the "spark add vs. ECT" (or whatever it is called). Below normal operating temps my PCM pulls ignition timing, so I changed the chart. And I am not talking about a little ignition timing.

There is a Closed Loop Enable ECT that my stock tune
had at 94F. No problem there. In general I have seen
no differences between 177 and 194F natural ECT
points. However having tuned to 177 I found pinging
when ECTs got out of control in hot weather and went
up to 195-200F. I think a better radiator is in my future.
