Mark, sounds like you might have a wiring/voltage issue then.

I fixed my initial issue.
My issue now, is just not being able to get a stable reading. The afr reading on HPT jumps around to much to get correct data from.

That was using, the analog wires from the LM-2.
I have not tried the serial cable, because I need to purchase the cables to do so. But I was looking to find out if there was anything to make the analog setup work better. Or if I have to get the serial setup, and if the serial setup is even working better.
I honestly just need something that is going to work best, the LM-2 was recommend as one of the wideband to use for vehicle to vehicle by Bill. So that is why I purchased the LM-2, and now to find out that I most likely need to get a different brand.

Well there's two reasons why it could be jumping around like that.
1. The readings are accurate and the LM-2 is outputting varying data.
2. The readings are inaccurate due to a wiring/ground/connection/voltage issue.

The wiring connections are all good.
So I just messed with it more just now. And I set the filter in the scanner on the chart to 1,000 ms then set it to 2,000ms. And it got the chart to actually stabilize the reading, just slow and does still vary a small amount from the value measured on the display of the LM-2. But once you stop the log, and look back over the log it defaults the data back to as if there was not filter setting. So it goes back to impossible to read data.

Do I get another brand wideband? Or is there a fix for this issue?
You can make a math parameter that averages the data (and will stay after you stop recording)
I'm running a PLX and don't have that issue
Also am starting to use an aem 30-0333 which connects via the OBD port instead of being wired to the 0-5V input

I have an LM2, an AFR500, an AEM 30-300 and two AEM 30-0310 inline units that were modified as part of a Beta for the AEM OBD solution. The only one I have had voltages issues with is the LM2. BUT by far the best is the OBD2 solution, which AEM sells as a 30-0333 with a gauge, they do not sell the 30-0310 as an OBD2 solution yet. I use the 30-0310 units in my car. Very fast, very accurate and no math or voltage offset or fluctuation issues. the AEM 30-0333 unit however does not ship with the pins populated for the serial or 5v populated and is only known to work on 2008+ cars at this point. Would never use anything else if I did not have to. There is a thread about these.
The -0333 works fine on my 2005 corvette over CAN bus
I do wish pins were at least included to populate the other outputs...
Nope.
I saw this post.. not sure if yours has the same offset compensation... read dr.mike's reply

I've just started using an LM-2 with NIStune and it connects via USB. Have yet to try it with HPTuners but I assumed there would be a driver so it connects directly to the software rather than through the interface. Can't this be done with VCM Scanner?

I see by the pictures that they do not stuff the pins for the analog output wires, in the 30-0333 harness.
You can get the pins here : http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/jst-sales-america-inc/SPUD-001T-P0.5/455-2518-1-ND/1989509
Install pins 9 ( Analog Output + ) and 10 ( Analog Output - )
Just in case the analog output is needed.
I was very much hoping someone would post that info, thanks..
I had been looking for them but wasn't sure which pins were the correct ones
At $1.08 for 25 though I may have to wait until pay day before I can order them, lol

This thread seem to of got lost a couple of years ago and went off topic.
Do you know if the issue Mark@TuckerPerformance was having has it been solved..?
As Iam getting the same issue, wired to ground check, also run a button for a 5v signal as manual knock record works a treate anyway
I can see Keith says config LM-2 to give better data, it seems that you get to pick 12, 6, 3 Hz or times per second, and the HP Interface samples the input at 10Hz by default and you cant change the polling interval (greyed Out) which would creates a sample rate miss match with LM-2, this is what i think is going on.
or has it been solved..?
After a couple of hours of playing with this I have come up with that the LM-2 Aux Output is square wave and not true sine wave and the HP Interface EIO is expecting a sine wave not square wave so when it average the square wave it samples on the tops and then on the bottoms of the square waves at different times to the LM-2 it's actually output is 12hz or 1/12 second, this is why VCM Scanner goes high and low on the AFR reading.

If anyone is interested, LM-2 AFR output Analogue Out 1 this is the issue, it is Pulse Width Modulated not true analogue.
Ground offset is NOT the problem.
I have built an Digital to Analogue converter, problem solved.
It is now as stable as and accurate from 7.35 to 22.39:1 AFR.
What ever is on the screen of the LM-2 is also in VCM Scanner.
