    timing, e85, meth, boost

18 zl1 here with all the bolt ons. Running a hefty amount of meth injection (48gpm) and on pump gas. what should my AFRs be and how much timing can i run? No dyno available in my area but maybe ill get to one someday. Also plan on putting in e85 since my tune is nearly ironed out. Will i really have a timing change? Thanks for any help yall can provide.

Not enough info, no tune, no data log.

You say "all the bolt ons" but you never mention pulley size, if they're stock or not. That will be 1 of the main factors in determining your timing.

Second factor will be fuel. What is the octane of your base fuel? 91? 93? 94?

What spark plugs are in it?

Rule of thumb, any of these GM forced induction engines the AFR you should be shooting for is mid 11s.

I don't ever suggest dialing in timing on these engines WITHOUT a dyno. It's too easy to overshoot and hurt something. When I'm email tuning I always leave the timing ultra conservative if the end user isn't on a dyno.

Yeah I'm not throwing around specific numbers. All I need is for you to pop your motor and come back here with "But you said".

I hope you data logged it on the stock setup so you have a baseline. Figure out what that boost level was, what it should be now, knock a bunch out of it and start there.

I appreciate that brother but you don't owe me anything. I am not that type of person at all. Using the forum comes with an implied understanding that information shared here is for information, sharing, and knowledge purposes only.

Ive tuned a good handful of ls's but this is my first LT. This is my personal car that i am risking and have no issues blowing it up. I can fix it myself if that happens. I understand the timing tuning is similar across multiple platforms.

Looks like factory timing is 10 and did numerous pull last night at 15 deg no knock at all. i'll keep slowly turning it up. The plan will be to add around 4 with flex e50-60 blend. The only reason i ask this question is to get a general consensus around here but forums arent as active as they used to be. Ive heard people running anywhere from 15-28 degrees on e50 blend alone with similar mods. Which is why i asked this question just to get a decent baseline or opinion out there to see whats "conservative".

Again, i understand if you dont want to share im just trying to run decent at the track next weekend if i dont get to a dyno before then...

Do not run 28 degrees on an LT4 even with E50.

And not arguing with you, but I would consider that on the high side. I would not have that much timing in a mail order car unless it was on the dyno and I could verify it "looked" safe to me.

agreed this was on the dyno , zero knock , backed it off 2 degrees to be safe on the street.

bolt on car i/H , 2.3 upper 9.06 lower x port , port injection , low side pump.
