Why 2003? They are nothing alike. Don't do that. There are 2007 and up vehicles that came with a 4L80 & T42, if you really feel the urge to go copying stuff out of a different file. Tuning is a process, not a thing where you change this and copy that and mess with that other thing for awhile until it runs real good.

I hope you didn't mean LQ4/P59 in the 2007 Trailblazer. Unless you enjoy those 10-year-long projects that never ever run again.

That’s what worries me, getting it tuned correctly. I just would like to have something to refer back to. Even though it’s the same trans I guess the tunes are completely different.

As for the LQ4 stuff, I wondered if using the p59 and harness on the LS2/4l80 in the 07 would make anything easier. Just daydreaming lol.

Have you compared wiring diagrams/pinouts between your truck and a '07 Suburban LY6/4L80 to see all the changes you'll have to make, if you don't use the adapter harness (which just plugs in, btw, no wiring changes needed)?

I have compared 4l80e pinouts to mine and have a good grasp on that. The diagram I have didn’t specify the year of 4l80, would you suggest me trying to source one for that model year? Alvin’s harness will require some tubing as well won’t it?

Tubing = tuning? No more so than tuning shift speeds/pressures/gear ratio/tire size/etc. you'd do with any type of transmission.

I’m going to dive into this tomorrow or Tuesday. Got the drivetrain over and am hitting the odds and ends, waiting on the driveshafts. I stupidly decided to paint the car, so that was weeks off stress and no sleep. I will report back.

What’s the trick to get the tcm connector apart to re pin it? I’ve searched hi and low and I haven’t found any write ups on that. I also discovered the engine harness to IP connectors are different between the years, so one of the plugs need changed, I was able to find a pin out for both thankfully.

Working on wrote the new file to the ecm but I keep getting timed out though. I have a tender on the battery and the radio fuse is pulled. I wonder if it has something to do with the vin from the pcm being different than the bodies. Do I need to make the vins match somewhere? Do I need to disable VATS?

It’s timing out on the TCM, the ECM is completing the write. This last time the TCM got to 97% and timed out.

Once the ECM is complete can I go back and write the TCM by itself?

The ECM showed complete, so I tired just writing the TCM and it completed. No fuel pump and no crank though, I see the security light is on. I assume I need to change the VIN somewhere or delete vats?

Should I have used the 08s ecm?

I put the 08 ecm in, security light is gone and it will crank. Didn’t hear the fuel pump prime though. So I think I need a to write the 07 v8 tune to the 08s original ecm.

Still wracking my brain on this one. After contacting multiple tuners and multiple dealers I gave up on trying to make the 07 ecm work in the 08 truck. I pulled the body harness, and complete dash from the 07 and put it in the 08. So the only 08 parts left are the shell, and the chassis harness. Now I am unable to connect to the 07 ecm. I have tried 2 other ecms and both will connect. I’m lost because I made no changes to the original 07 ecm. I get the unable to detect notification when the original ecm is in.

The one change I made, when pulling the harness from the 07 to put in the 08, I removed an aftermarket alarm/remote starter. No wires were broken, only tapped into. Is it possible that would be causing the issue? It’s odd that only the original ecm won’t connect to HPtuners. I have checked and I have voltage from the ignition switch to the ecm, but no voltage from the ecm to the starter relay. My next step is to hook the security system back up. I can’t wrap my head around how it could disable only the original numbers matching ecm? I guess at this point nothing should surprise me.

I got the ecm/harness issues sorted out. Ecm was dead, luckily I had a donor 5.3 trailblazer of the same year. I had a local tuner write the tune to the ecm. Fires up and runs, needs a crank relearn done. My issue is that the indicator stays in 1 no matter the shifter position. The truck will only go forward in every position but park. I have not rulled out mechanical issues yet, but the indicator staying on 1 doesn’t help.

I ordered the 4l80e adapter from pmcofnc. I’m hoping that will correct the indicator issue.
