i dont know how to thank you appropriately. the "hunting" is pretty much gone. flashed before a trip home. will do a soak start in a bit to see complete picture. after the initial, as expressed, computer settling to the tune; it is no longer hard bouncing below 500rpm. 99% of my "feel" issues gone. so far so GREAT! thanks again!

Glad it helped you and got things going in the right direction. You could log it and look at Zero Pedal Torque so see if it needs a tiny touch-up in the Virtual Torque Tables. After that, then you can decide how much you want to chase the fuel trims. The nice thing is since it's running well, you can experiment knowing that your focus is really two areas...MAF and VVE. Make a change, if it move fuel trims in the right direction...Great! If it goes to crap, scrap that those modifications and make a different set of changes.

I looked at the long drive. The VVE and MAF are consistently rich. Just my opinion, but I think you could do a "global" change in the areas you have good data and a little smoothing around them. Then see where the fuel trims end up. Something like reducing the both of them by 10%. If things look better and it's still running well, then you can fine tune as you see fit. I did notice you have a little spark retard of a bit over 1* from 600 to 1200 rpm if you look at the peak value and not just the average. Probably nothing but after the fueling is done you may find you need to do a little nip & tuck on the spark table.

- On your MAF adjustments, if you look at 2700 Hz, you have a dip. I'd smooth forward of that just slightly and back to ~2300Hz to get rid of the dip.
- Your Zero Pedal Torque is creeping up so you may need to massage the VT tables again in the idle areas
- I think the VVE changes look reasonable

I'd smooth the MAF curve and then run that tune. If the fuel trims look better but you're having the idle issues again, I'd update the iteration 2 file by tweaking the VT tables to address the Zero Pedal Torque

I did a touch of smoothing on the MAF curve and some nips and tucks on the VVE table where you're still rich in the 550/600rpm range as well as an area where there was a potato chip shape. It's not an area you'll drive in but it looks better

Take a look and you can run it or change it as you see fit. I didn't do anything in the VT tables. Zero Pedal is still a little positive but nothing outlandish that can't be touched up later. Ditto the timing where I still see a tiny bit of spark retard but nothing I'd lose sleep over

As always....if it runs like shit, default back to the prior version. I'd say that where it's at right now is darn close to some of the values I've seen when people log stock tune files so this one is an attempt to go beyond that.

I freely admit I'm slow. I'm sure one of the guys that does this for a living could whip it into shape in no time but since 1) this is not my vehicle and 2) I don't do this for a living.....I like to be cautious.

My opinion is that I'd leave the MAF alone or some very minor touch-ups. In general the averages are +/- a few percent and to me that's good enough. If one of the experts is watching this thread, I'd welcome their input. I look at the fuel trims using Cringer's graphs, typical "LTFT vs MAF Freq", I have another look with the STFTs and LTFT, etc. I think there are elements of all that are value-added since it's a dynamic environment.

Regarding VE, it looks like it just needs more massaging in the 1400 rpm area so I'd work on that.

Zero Pedal looks really good at -3 or so on average.

How's the quality of the drive? Good idle? Good take off from a stop? No throttle hang? Bucking or surging at part throttle? Any smells/fumes? Once you reach the "it drives fine" stage it becomes an issue of how much better you want the data to look even though it has no impact on what you feel regarding driveability....you're just chasing numbers.

I think I'd go back to "20250727_iteration_2ve_2MAF-smoothed - Rev 1.hpt" if it was driving well and then just minor VE changes at most. Frankly I think I'd leave MAF and VVE alone. Again...if that version was driving well, you're just chasing numbers at this point. Also in that version,
- Zero Pedal Torque looks good. You could make it go negative with a super small tweak....like subtract 1%....to the VTT in the idle area and then smooth to the right
- Idle timing looks good being positive and right around 7* or so
- Predicted vs Delivered Torque all looks good

About the only thing I see is that your spark table is pretty choppy so that will contribute to driveability "goodness". Do you have the OEM table? Not sure I've seen one that has that much advance in some areas and the various spikes and valleys. I circled a few of the spikes and such in the screenshot.

may try as suggested and look to make a pass at the spark. drive-ability wise on that one: low pedal getting thru the neighborhood feels like the cam tips open and shes too loud. personal issue im sure, but i can probably tune that out within the VAR-CAM area... and would get me more hits on the error given the low rpm ares i drive in... again appreciate your inputs.

i still may go back to a previous iteration but on my learning path i touched up the VVE, threw it in and took a mixed drive over lunch. everything seems fine(still aint touched the cam, or spark). tune and log: in this drive folder https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...d-?usp=sharing . still a bit of work i think. new skills need honeing..im a work in progress, like this truck.
