    Swapping PCM for a "NEWER" one?

    Was wonder, is it possible to swap out PCMs to get a "better" OS? I know the 98's are limited on tuning, is it possible to swap out for a "newer" PCM, like an 02' that has more "adjustability". Is the wiring harness for the PCM by chance be the same? Is there anywhere I could check? Or find the pin out if a few things would need to be swapped. I'd like to see some more of these optioned that have been greyed out.

    If the application is a V8 its no easy swap at all. The wiring harness is completely different as well as many emissions components.

    EVAP and Fueling are also very different between 98/99.

    The 98 PCM is just fine to tune. You aren't missing out.

    What options are you looking for exactly?

    Burst knock, and better VE tuning for 1. Since the 98 uses the secondary table, all the MAP reading go by 10.

    Are you sure the 98 and 99 aren't interchangeable? I've seen a wiring harness that's made for LS1 swaps, that says it needs to use a 98 or 99 ECM.

    1000000% sure 98 and 99's are not an easy swap.
