Anyone else have an EIO MVPI with the standalone buttons not working

My MPVI unit is still fully functional when connected to a laptop (ie can scan and read/write to pcm) but if i dont have the laptop connected the busy led constantly flashes and pressing the record or stop buttons has no effect.
i have contacted support and have determind my EIO unit is faulty but ive decided not to send it in for repairs cause postage is really expensive from australia and the repairs may not be covered under warranty depending on whats wrong

Has anyone else had a similar problem with their cable?

The box itself weighs 3.5 ounces. You can easily put it in a padded envelope.
Using the united states postal service it would cost $3.60 to ship a 4 ounce envelope from connecticuit to north sidney first class international and $11.00 priority mail flate rate envelope.
I would send it in.

The shiping to the USA isn't too bad it's the return postage that's $65 US to Australia , sikhabib is the local distributor an option ?
