Just need some advice here but I've done the mechanical delete and adjusted the tune. I disabled dod and I also zeroed the cam settings. I personally couldn't find the dod slip in the transmission tuning. I'm having issues with losing oil and with rough smoking start. At low rpms it backfires but it comes out near the intake not the exhaust. I only did the delete because I had a dead lifter and read for months on what needed to be done. I have a file of it running but I'm still new to this and want to learn. I will say I didn't change the valve seals and I also switched to a high pressure pump but I only get 60 psi roughly. It's a 2008 chevy silverado 5.3. I did head gaskets, exhaust gaskets, timing cover gasket, valve cover gaskets, crank gasket, non dod cam, stock non dod lifters, non dod valley cover, and other small gaskets at water pump. I replaced stock oil pump with high pressure oil pump putting my idle around 40psi and 60psi driving. I have no issues when I'm on it just when I'm at idle or low rpms. I wil add that it's the worst right at starting then calms down when the rpms drop.

Just to verify, would like to do this delete on my 07 5.3 in our suburban and I just need to follow the steps;
Engine -> Fuel -> Lean/Fuel-Saving -> DOD dropdown menu
Set to Disable.
Engine Diag
Find DTC's related to cylinder deactivation. Found in P3400 and on. Uncheck SES Enable and set to No Error Reported.
Planning on doing the delete kit at a later time.

I’m pretty new to tuning EFI engines and learning more every day but my prior experience has taught me that if backfiring into the intake manifold it would be best to recheck the physical engine before proceeding with tuning. This should not be happening unless something is wired wrong or there is a camshaft timing issue.

Got quick question here for the knowledgeable? What about if you need the monitor to ready for inspection on egr vvt? All the above info will not ready the monitor. Looking for advice. (Legitimate question) Tried afew things myself with no luck.Thanks

Leave the ses enable checked. It should do the test but not see any codes if they are set to no error reported.
Change ?desired angle? and ?VCT? spark min monitor won?t ready.Confused. VVT cam phaser is still there just taking the retard out it.

Did you put a limiter in it?
That?s why the limiter gets put in so it can?t move. But I don?t think that?s what you?re trying to do. It sounds like you want it turned down in a certain area. If that is correct. Just bump it down to 1 degree and see if it takes it. Did you put a cam in?
No it?s stock cam and phaser setup. Just taking the cam phasing ?retard? movement out of the lower areas and this is done and based off a reputable tuner but don?t think he consider the readiness status being a issue but it is in the state i live in unfortunately it is.You adjust this for throttle response but truth be known off the line timing the truck with lights it makes no difference but drivability is better that?s why I?d rather leave it the way it is. Aside from purchasing the MPV3 do I need to get the PROLink+ cable and/or credits to perform the DOD delete?
